Boston's MONGREL Teams With Unable Records For June EP Release: 'Snakes' Single Streaming

Posted on April 21, 2014 at 9:45 PM

Female-fronted hard rock band MONGREL has inked a deal with independent record label Unable Records, based in southern New Jersey, for the release of Mongrel’s Evolution EP in June.

For Mongrel, this signing represents the next logical step on their path forward. Since the addition of lead singer Jessica Sierra, Mongrel has been an unstoppable force, taking the bars and hard rock venues of the eastern US by storm. Show after show, release after release, Mongrel has consistently proven that they are among the best bands active in the scene today. Dan Nelson, formerly of ANTHRAX, has said, “Mongrel is more than punk, more than metal, they tread the line somewhere in between; a rare musical hybrid that brings the listener into their dangerous and heavy world, then keeps them there with beautiful and unapologetic force.”

A professional and dedicated band, Mongrel and Unable Records are poised to raise the bar yet again with the June release of the five-song EP entitled Evolution. Aptly named, this latest effort by Mongrel was recorded by Jim Foster (POD, NULLSET, SULLY ERNA) and mixed by Dave Fortman (SLIPKNOT, GODSMACK). Famed engineer Howie Weinberg, who has worked with bands like METALLICA, NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN, and PANTERA, mastered Evolution, bringing huge production value to the outstanding song writing and musicianship that has made Mongrel fan-favorites everywhere they go.

Evolution will be available exclusively through iTunes beginning May 20th, and will be released through all major online retailers and streaming services on June 3rd. Physical copies will be available in select US stores as well as through Unable Records, Amazon, and Mongrel directly.

MONGREL TAP MIKE ARIZA FOR PERMANENT BASS SLOT

Posted on March 25, 2013 at 12:50 AM

(11 March 2013 - Boston, MA) Boston based metal / punk crossover outfit Mongrel is pleased to announce that Mike Ariza has joined the band as the new full-time bassist. Ariza previously played for the Las Vegas alternative band Vault’d and was looking for a new band after his return home to Massachusetts not long ago. Guitarist, Adam Savage stated, “We found Mike online, reached out, he immediately was into the music and clicked with us pretty instantly. Within 1 week of meeting us, and 4 days with the tunes he joined us on stage for our show with Drowning Pool and Flyleaf in CT and it was an obvious great fit. We invited him to join the band that day and are really excited to have him be a part of the Mongrel family.” Ariza took over bass duties for Mongrel from Michael Mariano (ex-Affliction guitarist) who had been filling in with the band since December. Mike will make his “official” debut as a member of the band on March 16th at Tammany Hall in Worcester, MA.

Mongrel recently saw the UK release of their recent full length album ‘Reclamation’ via THC-Music/Vanity Music Group with distribution through Code7 / Plastichead. ‘Reclamation’ is now available in brick and mortar outlets throughout Great Britain in addition to digital retailers such as Amazon and iTunes. ‘Reclamation’ was recorded and mixed by Jim Foster (POD, Nullset, Sully Erna) who also did the band’s video for lead off track ‘Bored to Death’ (http://bit.ly/P05CUe). ‘Reclamation’ was first released in the US on 25 September 2012 by THC-Music (home of American Head Charge, Oedipus, Attika7, etc) and is receiving airplay on DMX, Faction on Sirius/XM, and hit number 41 on the CMJ charts this past fall.
